shu uemura wishes to reassure customers of total product safety and has implemented strict monitoring and testing of all its Japanese-made cosmetics
shu uemura extends its deepest sympathies and support to the victims, their families and all the people of Japan who suffered, or are suffering, as a result of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck the country on March 11th. as a Japanese brand, shu uemura has been deeply touched by the compassion demonstrated by the rest of the world to Japan.
our Gotemba city manufacturing facility in Japan that produces our cosmetics is 320km away from Fukushima -well outside the impacted area - and was not affected on the day of the earthquake. but as a precaution, we immediately closed that facility and ceased production until March 28th because we wanted to be certain our employees and the surrounding environment were safe.
consumer safety and product quality have always been our top priorities. we have purchased and installed new, rigorous testing equipment that allows us to put in place a series of strict monitoring measures in our Gotemba city facility before we resumed production on March 28th.
these measures ensure all goods produced at our Gotemba city plant undergo thorough testing at every stage of the supply chain, from when raw materials arrive to when the finished products are shipped.
additional controls are conducted by the independent certification company Bureau Veritas at the Japanese port, just before products leave Japan. products are also controlled and certified by an independent third party at each market entry point. no shu uemura products manufactured in Japan will enter any country without these inspections or controls.
we feel it’s vital that you are kept informed of our testing and monitoring procedures so you can confidently continue using our products.
