Mr. Shu Uemura very quickly recognized the natural aptitude of kakuyasu uchiide and gave him special direct training, so it can be said that the shu uemura DNA is protected in his skilled hands; for many years he worked together with Mr. Shu Uemura. since joining shu uemura in 1988, uchiide has expanded his make-up activities into various forms of visual creation, including magazine shoots, product development, and backstage involvement with collections including those of jean-paul gaultier and vivienne tam.
his bold but precise, pioneering use of color and exquisite technique has gained him popularity worldwide. he describes his philosophy of make-up with the word, shin-zen-bi, which in japanese means “truth, ethics, and beauty.” his adherence to these principals allows him to create make-up that is not only dramatic, but honors the individuality of the wearer.
